Rum balls

An economical recipe for an old favourite.


  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1/2 cup plain flour sifted
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup sultanas
  • 125 g butter melted
  • 2 tbs sherry
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence


  1. Mix the first five ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Add the next three ingredients and stir well.
  3. Make small balls the size of a rounded teaspoon and roll in coconut.
  4. Keep refrigerated.

recipe notes

If the weather is hot, refrigerate the mixture before rolling into balls.
